Is Affiliate Marketing Success a Destination or a Journey?
I was on my way to give a lecture the other day. The topic of the lecture that I was to give was ?Successful Affiliate Marketing?. As I drove to the hall where I was to speak, I got to thinking about success and I asked myself, ?Is success a PLACE? Is success the final destination of a journey?? It was a long drive so I had time to ponder the question.
It came to me that if success is a place (a place in life) that there should be specific identifiers that would tell you when you have reached the ?place? of success. So when you arrive at ?Success? will you know you are there because you have achieved a specific level of respect in your field of endeavor or you have acquired a specific amount of money? What is that specific level of respect and that specific amount or money that means that you have arrived at ?Success??
Now, what I really know is Affiliate Marketing. That?s MY field so it is what I use as a measuring-stick or a gauge for everything. In Affiliate Marketing there is no PLACE of success. There isn?t a specific level of respect or a specific amount of income that denote arrival at ?Success,? and I?d pretty much bet the farm that the same thing is true for other fields of endeavor as well.
Everyday people set out on the JOURNEY of Affiliate Marketing and most of the time they find that there are a lot of built in speed bumps on the Affiliate Marketing road.
Things just don?t always go as planned! Maybe the product doesn?t sell, or advertising costs are out of line with income. Most of these people (about 90% of them) will quit.
But the 10% that do not quit achieve success with each Affiliate Marketing speed bump that they overcome. Overcoming problems and advancing slowly, one step at a time, might not be obvious signs of success - but they are just that.
Of course there are quite a few more obvious signs of success on the journey of Affiliate Marketing. You make that first sale; you secure your first Joint Venture; or a product launch goes just as planned. All of these things are successes on the JOURNEY of Affiliate Marketing.
